Willow Park Junior School, Blackrock College

The development provides for the construction of 25 new classrooms, 4 resource rooms, 6 offices and two performing arts room around a central courtyard over two storeys adjacent to the existing primary school. The development also includes a school library and general purpose area.  Externally the development provides for the creation of new external play areas and the upgrade of traffic management layouts and parking provisions around the school.

The new building structural involved the design of a two-storey reinforced concrete frame with both monopitch and flat roofs and incorporated connections to the existing building at a number of locations. The new library was constructed over the existing science & art building.

The contract involved the provision of a temporary modular building for the relocation of the school during the contract as the new school building is built on part of the site of the original building.

Civil engineering works included the entire upgrade of the existing foul and surface water sewers and the incorporation of a grey water collection network and storage tank.
