Curragh Camp Sports Centre, Co. Kildare

This project provided for the demolition of the existing pool and development of a new pool complex at a new location within the military camp. The new pool facility includes a 25m x 13m competition standard pool with water depths of 0.92m to 2m, a 12m x 7.5m learner pool, 0.9m deep, and a 11.5m x 7m diving pool to FINA (Federation Internationale de Natation) competition standards. It also includes 120-person capacity public viewing areas. A 42m2 lecture theatre accommodating 40no. persons, an 80m2 gym and a 14-person steam room are also incorporated in the centre.

Refurbishment of the existing sports hall was also required and included provision of a new roof and replacement of windows and doors, provision of external cladding, total refurbishment of the existing ancillary areas and provision of new offices and lecture theatre at upper floor level.
