Carrickmacross Sewerage Scheme – Contract No 1 – Pipelines

This project consisted of constructing in excess of 30km of foul and surface water sewers from 225mm – 900mm in diameter, 3km of rising mains 100mm – 400mm diameter, 6 pumping stations and the replacement of 7.5km of watermains in the town centre, in addition to extensive rehabilitation works to the existing network, the abandonment of several existing Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs) and the construction of 500No. manholes and 10 No. outfalls.

Particular difficulties encountered included pipelaying in narrow streets, peat and soft ground conditions, road traffic management, over pumping and non-negligence insurance issues.J. O’Connor & Associates were responsible for all stages of network review, from preparation of a preliminary report to preparation of contract documents, management of the tender process, tender assessment and recommendation through to supervision of construction works. T. J. O’Connor & Associates also acted as PSDP throughout the design and procurement process
