Experience:

Since joining T. J. O’Connor & Associates in 1999 Niall has been responsible for a wide range of civil engineering projects, including mains replacement, water supply and water conservation schemes, wastewater and sewerage schemes, water and wastewater treatment plants in addition to flood relief schemes, including the preparation of Environmental Impact Assessments for these projects. Niall is an Associate Director at the firm.

He has significant experience project managing and designing complicated engineering works, including Munster Blackwater River Fermoy North & South Drainage Schemes, Dublin Bay Wastewater Treatment Plant project, North East Kildare Regional Water Supply Scheme and East Cavan grouped water scheme DBO project.

His experience has included the preparation of Preliminary Reports for sewerage schemes, the assessment of appropriate solutions for water supply, mathematical modelling of pipe networks, assessing assimilative capacities of receiving waters, preparing future projections of wastewater flows and water policy pricing reports, advising on optimum solutions for water and wastewater schemes and coordinating survey contracts for a significant number of sizeable projects. His responsibilities have also included the preparation of contract documents and managing of these contracts through all stages.   

He has had extensive exposure to Irish Water and local authority procedures and requirements having acted as point of contact on numerous design schemes and is experienced with the procurement complexities using the current Department of Finance Model Contracts and has prepared a number of procurement option reports.

He is proficient in the management of H&S issues through his role as PSDP on a number of both small- and large-scale schemes.
