Experience:

John is an Associate Director at the firm. Since joining T. J. O’Connor & Associates in 1999, John has been responsible for a wide range of civil and structural engineering projects including flood defence projects, water supply projects, water & wastewater treatment plants, office developments, apartments, shopping centres, hospitals, hotels and industrial warehouses.

John has a proven record in the delivery of large and complex projects to very high standards, with tight programme constraints whilst implementing budget control measures. He is experienced in developing and presenting design proposals to the Client and has extensive knowledge of civil and structural engineering design and construction.

Projects that John has been Project Manager/Engineer on include Cork Lower Harbour Wastewater Treatment Plant, The River Barrow Abstraction Scheme & Water Treatment Plant, Munster Blackwater River Fermoy North & South Drainage & Flood Alleviation Schemes, Dundrum Town Centre and various projects in Citywest Business Campus.

John worked on the Fermoy Drainage and Flood Alleviation Scheme which received an award from the Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland for Design Excellence in Innovation. ­

John is very experienced in preparing masterplanning, planning, tender and construction documents for various size projects, and the day-to-day management and site monitoring of these projects.

He has been responsible for compiling design, tender and contract documentation for a variety of Government Department, Government Agencies & Local Authority projects. He has been responsible for administering these contracts through all stages of the works and is very familiar with the various Public Works Forms of Contract.

He has also worked on a number of Design, Build and Operate PPP projects, acting as Lead Project Engineer for the Contractor and as Lead Project Engineer for the Employer’s Representative (Local Authority & Irish Water).

Some other projects that John has worked on include Central Park Office Development, Horizon Logistics Park, Castleknock Hotel & Country Club and the Incorporated Orthopaedic Hospital of Ireland.
