Experience:

Edward Fitagerald was appointed as Director in 1990. He has more than 32 years experience in a wide variety of engineering projects including drainage and water supply schemes, water and waste water treatment plants, swimming pools, flood alleviation works and harbour reclamation works. He has been responsible for the design and implementation as Project Director on many projects including Wexford Main Drainage Scheme including the Quay Extension and Interceptor Sewer Contract, Carrigtohill Sewerage Scheme and WWTP, Carrickmacross Sewerage Scheme and Munster Blackwater River Fermoy North and South Flood Alleviation schemes.  These contracts involve both traditional and design/build/opearate forms of contract.

He has experience in construction insurance, claims assessments and dispute resolution, has participated in the conduct of conciliations and arbitrations and has acted as an expert witness on a number of litigation cases. He has also participated in the drawing up of various conditions of contract and consultancy services documents based on FIDIC and other forms of contract. Abroad he has acted as adviser to the Prime Minister, Housing Development Administration of the Turkish Government in the 1990’s on an Earthquake Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Project which was funded by the World Bank.

He served on the permanent joint committee which produced the 4th edition of the conditions of contract for use in civil engineering works in Ireland. He has served on the Forum for Construction Industry representing the Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland (ACEI), drawing up a new suite of civil engineering contracts for the industry in Ireland based on the FIDIC Forms of Contract. He represented the ACEI in discussions/regulations with the Department of Finance and other government departments on the new suite of engineering contracts released in 2007.

He has acted as PSDP and PSDS on the majority of civil engineering projects undertaken by the fim.
