T. J. O’Connor and Associates took part in the NSAI BIM certification pilot project in March 2019 and became the first company to achieve NSAI certification to the International BIM Standard I.S. EN ISO 19650-2.
Achieving certification to I.S. EN ISO 19650-2 is a prestigious recognition of our efforts in integrating collaborative BIM processes and digital technologies into our company Quality Management System.
We are a leading firm in assisting clients in drafting and reviewing all types of BIM documentation including Exchange Information Requirements (EIR), BIM Execution Plans (BEP), BIM Protocols and Responsibility Matrices, in addition to developing and managing project Common Data Environments (CDE) and associated BIM workflows.
We are leaders in drafting procurement documentation and specifications for 3D Point Cloud Surveying works and subsequent BIM Modelling works, which deliver an important contribution to the digital design and construction process.
This process is critical in adding value to our Client service, enabling us to achieve the very best in International Standards of information and collaborative project management procedures, both internally and across project teams, delivering the highest quality and best value for our Clients.
It is company policy to develop our Civil and Structural engineering designs and subsequent outputs utilising digital technologies including Tekla Structures, Microdrainage WinDes and the Autodesk suite of products including Revit, Navisworks, Infraworks and AutoCad Civil 3D.
The firm has developed Civil and Structural Project BIM models for a number of projects including Ringsend WWTP Upgrade Project, Radiation Oncology Centres for Cork and Galway Hospitals, Office Blocks at the Citywest campus, retail refurbishments & new development works and refurbishment and upgrading works to an existing industrial use building in Shannon for a South African based company.
The firm has an appointed BIM Director and BIM support staff including BIM Coordinator and BIM Technicians.
Ongoing training of our engineering and technical staff in the use of these BIM related analysis and 3D modelling software and associated processes is an essential part of our commitment to Building Information Modelling and Digital Design and Construction processes.
Senior staff in the firm have completed Post-graduate qualifications in BIM related courses including a Masters in Construction Informatics, Post-graduate Certificate in BIM Technologies and Post-graduate Diploma in Collaborative BIM.
Senior staff have provided Guest Lecturing services on the implementation of International BIM Standard series ISO19650 to Technological University (TU) Dublin (previously Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT)).
Management staff represent the Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland (ACEI) in providing expertise and advice to the Build Digital Project Team, working under the Construction Sector Innovation and Digital Adoption Sub-Group. We also hold representation on the Construction Cluster Ireland Steering Group Committee and are involved in Construction IT Alliance (CITA)/BIM discussion groups, with staff members regularly attend CITA and other industry events to remain up-to-date with any developments in BIM and Digital technologies.
Our personnel are also involved with the Construction Industry Research and Information Association (CIRIA) in relation to BIM Protocols and their implementation in the industry.
